Philadelphia smartWISE Coalition

Code of Conduct

It is the expectation of The Philadelphia smartWISE Coalition that all members and their affiliates will conduct themselves in a highly professional and ethical manner in all activities related to the Coalition’s mission, vision, and values. It is important that we work together for the good of us all. This Code of Conduct is in place to promote a cohesive, productive, and safe space for us to complete this most important goal.

  1.  Behave professionally and treat everyone with kindness, compassion, and support. All actions must foster mutual respect and support of each person’s role in the Coalition.

  2. Demonstrate open and shared communication that allows all members to speak freely and honestly. Statements should be made and questions asked in a respectful, thoughtful, and non-judgmental manner.

  3. Resolve all conflicts using tools and tactics that promote understanding and approach the conflict with the intention of a resolution. In the event, you are not able to resolve the issue with the member directly, seek assistance from the SMARTwise Coalition leadership team.

  4. Attend all meetings, conference calls, events with punctuality. In the event, you are not able to attend, contact the coordinator in advance of the event.

  5. Complete assigned projects with excellence. Offer your best-concerted effort to meet required deadlines and ask for help, when necessary.

  6. Regard everyone equally, regardless of race, creed, gender, gender identity, age, disability, religion, veteran status, marital status, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, or account for any other reason prohibited by law.

  7. Use wisdom, discretion, and sound judgment in matters that are deemed confidential.

  8. Refrain from all activities that will put yourself, as well as the Coalition, in a light unbecoming to the SMARTwise Coalition community.

  9. Obtain authorization prior to speaking on behalf of the Coalition in public events, forums, etc.

  10. Avoid all activities that could reasonably be perceived as a conflict of interest.
